Google testing "New" feature for fresh YouTube content

Here’s something interesting I came across today. Two days ago I uploaded a video called Custom CSS for Joomla module in Chrome and when I was testing to ensure it was coming up in Google I noticed that there was a little “New” icon next to the video. Take a look at the image below. 

This indicates a couple of interesting points:-

1. Google indexes YouTube videos very, very quickly

This video was indexed within a day or two which is pretty quick – even for Google. The fact it’s showing up in the search results already and it’s the only video means that Google is loving video content at the moment so if you don’t have a video strategy in place, it’s time to start thinking about how you can incorporate video into your content production schedule.

2. Google loves fresh content

The fact that Google is putting a little ‘new’ icon next to my video tells me that they’re really pushing for people to check out new content, particularly video. That being said, it makes sense to produce good video for your site or YouTube channel as often as you can.
